Strategies for Medical Family Therapy of Disruptive, Impulse Control, and Conduct Disorders
Jeon Hye-Seong

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to derive an effective medical family therapy strategy for families of children with destructive, impulse control, and behavioral disorders. These disorders make it difficult to self-control emotions and actions and indicate maladaptive behaviors that violate other people's rights or social norms. Research on destructive and impulse control and biosocial treatment of children with behavioral disorders has continued, but suggestions for effective family approaches are insufficient.

Methods: This study examined previous research on the characteristics of children with destructive and impulse control and behavioral disorders, biosocial treatment methods, family experiences, and medical family therapy. Based on this, a strategy for practicing medical family therapy is proposed.

Results: Medical family treatment strategies that emphasize cooperative relationships with families were presented in 10 stages according to the early, mid, and late processes of intervention.

Conclusions: Applying a medical family therapy strategy, it may be possible to help control children's impulses and to promote healthy development, strengthen family parenting capabilities, and support adjustment to a healthy family system.
